Fantastic tool: Similar Images at Google Labs

This is an impressive beta tool from Google: Similar Images.

As you can see, I’m searching for Sao Paulo’s images in the tool.

Google Similar Images - Sao Paulo

Google Similar Images - Sao Paulo

Then, I select one of the picture to get similar images and the tool gives back a list of images related to what I was looking for!

Try to find similar images using keywords.

I find it impressive because it allows people to look for more images that are related to what they visually imagine, but they cannot express in words. Imagine a search where people don’t have to type a keyword, but just need to choose an image. That’s the magic behind it.

I just tried this but got stuck. I went into the Google Similar Images site, typed in my search term, found a photo i liked, clicked on this — but only the one photo appeared, just as if I’d done a normal image search. What am I doing wrong?

I don’t think you did anything wrong. Remember the the tool it is still in beta and sometime the results are not that great yet.
